AMHERST- Before Green Thumb Industries opens the doors to its Amherst medical marijuana dispensary to patients, it welcomed the public to take a sneak peek on Wednesday.
It all started as an idea on a napkin during a meeting at Johnny’s Roadside Diner in Hadley between GTI Chief Executive Officer Pete Kadens, Matthew Yee, and Matthew’s father, well-known area restaurateur Andy Yee.
Now it’s a glistening retail establishment catering to the needs of the medical marijuana community in Amherst and beyond.
RISE Amherst is GTI’s 13th dispensary in the nation with a total of 20 GTI dispensaries expected to be operating in five states by the end of 2018.
“This is a great day for the patients of Massachusetts and the state’s medical cannabis program,” said GTI Chief Executive Officer Pete Kadens. “Our goal at our RISE dispensaries is to provide the very best care to our patients while offering the the most effective and quality medical marijuana available. We are thrilled to join the Amherst community and look forward to serving our patients.”
Headquartered in Chicago, GTI has seven manufacturing facilities
