CHARLTON – The town Marijuana Advisory Committee will host a public forum Thursday on a proposal for recreational marijuana sales from a medical marijuana dispensary set to open this summer.
Town Administrator Robin L. Craver said the community outreach meeting is required by the state Cannabis Control Commission before HealthWise Foundation Inc. can apply for a permit to sell recreational adult-use marijuana at its location at 46 Worcester Road.
The hearing is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the selectmen’s meeting room at Town Hall.
HealthWise is expected to inform residents how it would prevent distribution to minors and how the location would be secured, and describe how the location would not become a nuisance to the community.
The town’s first medical marijuana dispensary received site plan approval from the Planning Board in January.
