LANSING, Mich. (WILX) — A Lansing man will be handed a mandatory life in prison without the possibility of parole sentence Wednesday, after being found guilty of killing another man outside a medical marijuana dispensary in Lansing.
A jury convicted Marcell D’Jon Davis last month of first-degree felony murder, armed robbery, and felony firearm possession in the death of 27-year-old Matthew Smoke.
Davis was arrested in Lansing a few weeks after the murder.
Another suspect in the case, Derabian Carthell had already been arrested and is still awaiting trial.
Marcell Davis is scheduled to be sentenced by Ingham County Circuit Court Judge Rosemarie Aquilina Wednesday at 8:30 a.m.
