MIDDLEBORO – The town’s first application for a recreational marijuana facility will be discussed by selectmen on Monday, May 21 when they meet at 7 p.m., at the Town Hall.
Town Manager Robert Nunes told selectmen on Monday that he received a request for a host agreement for a recreational marijuana facility from Timothy Shaw, chief operating officer of MariMed, Inc. of Newton, who was one of the first to be issued a host agreement for a medical marijuana facility under the name ARL.
Last week, Nunes gave selectmen an overview of the state law regarding recreational marijuana and informed them that since the town voted in favor of the state ballot question to legalize marijuana, that four of the host agreements they issued for medical marijuana could now also sell recreational marijuana.
Nunes said that Town Counsel Daniel Murray has reviewed the Shaw application for a recreational marijuana facility on Route 44 and “suggested some changes.”
