What is at the heart of the recreational marijuana debate? Many who are against recreational marijuana have the same fear: that it would allow for drug abuse and dependency. This places this argument at odds with morality, rather than logic.
Marijuana will doubtless cause drug dependency in some users. Much like gambling, cigarettes, and reality television, marijuana has the potential to be abused and depended upon.
However, this is an unacceptable reason to ban recreational marijuana.
The American people had already spoken about this issue on Dec. 5, 1933, the day that Prohibition ended.
